Happy New Year, beloved sisters of the Disciples Women’s Ministry of Greater Kansas City! We hope this new season brings you joy, peace, and a renewed sense of calling. As we begin another year of walking in faith together, we’re excited to share upcoming opportunities for connection, spiritual growth, and community support.
Remembering Rev. Karen Jane Yount

We mourn the passing of our beloved sister in Christ, Rev. Karen Jane (Smith) Yount, who went home to the Lord on November 23, 2025. Karen faithfully served the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) throughout her life in ministry, leadership, music, and mission — including more than 25 trips to Haiti, where her legacy continues through the Karen School of Nursing and Assistants. Her compassion, faith, and joy touched countless lives across our region and around the world.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Raymore Christian Church, 500 Peace Dr., Raymore, MO 64083.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Raymore Christian Church.

 

Those wishing to further honor Karen’s ministry may also consider contributions to:

• The Disciples Women Endowment – Karen Yount Fund (Christian Church Foundation)
• The Greater Kansas City Disciples Women’s Fund for Tall Oaks

 

We give thanks for Karen’s life, witness, and enduring legacy among the Disciples Women of Greater Kansas City.
